Devotion 12
"You Will Get Older"
Coffee With Pat (Job 12:12) "Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?" Hi Everyone, I hope that each of you have had a wonderful day. The weather in my part of North Carolina is wonderful this week. It is in the 70's. This is my kind of weather. Well, I can tell this is going to be one of those devotions that ramble on and on. Ha Ha I do not know about you, but I have one magazine that I subscribe too. "North Carolina State" Long ago, it was just called "State" It tells about the history of North Carolina, and usually has a lot of interesting fact. When the renewal came around this year, I told Joe not to re-order, because it is getting where it is full of advertisements. I decided to order The Saturday Evening Post, I love the paintings of Normal Rockwell. I received my first issue today, and thought well, I did not do much better. It also was full of advertisements, but mostly for senior citizens. Now Joe and I are both 52 years old, and it does not bother me to be called a senior citizen at times. (It does Joe, he almost fainted when he received his first ARRP letter asking him to join.) After reading a few articles I decided well, Pat, you better just cancel this and order a copy of County Woman or something like that. No advertisements are in that magazine. And I also will feel a little younger when I read it. See as most of you know I turned gray a long time ago. The old saying that only Mrs. Clairol knows, well I guess I can say only Mrs. Kaye and I know. At Anna's college graduation activities I was letting my hair go natural. We went to a restaurant to eat. A little girl who was sitting behind us, said, " What is your name? I told her my name is Pat Aman, then he looked at Joe and said, what is your sons name. Well, before I went back to the graduation services the next day, there was not a gray hair to be found. See, I guess she thought Joe was my son because he did not have any gray hair, well that is changing now. Joe went to get a hair cut the other day, and when he came home, he made the statement that Mrs. Kaye, must have not sweep the floor before she cut his hair, because when she finished cutting his hair there was to much gray on the floor, and he knows it did not come from him hair. Ha Ha. I realized then that God does have a sense of humor. We all will get older if the Lord tarries. I praise God for that when I think of the alternative. But I am looking forward myself to one day, sitting around enjoying my grandchildren, that is if I ever have any. A friend of mine will soon have five grandchildren, four will be born at the same time. I told her I would come help rock hers. She said come right on. Just a thought for you today. Enjoy life. Bring laughter to others. Do not act so uptight all the time. Watch what you say, for it will come back and bite you in the backside. Let others see Jesus in you. Do not be so religious, that you cannot enjoy life. And you know what I mean when I say that statement. Even Jesus like to have fun. Here is a little joke to make you laugh. God Bless Each of you, and share a fun story of your life experiences with others. A senior couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two husbands were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant an it was really great. I would recommend it very highly." The other man said, "What is the name of the restaurant?" The first man thought and thought and finally said, "What is the name of the flower you give to someone you love? You know...the one that's red and has thorns." 'Do you mean a rose?' "Yes, that's the one," replied the man. He than turned toward the kitchen and yelled. "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night.?"
