(Proverbs 10:3)
"The Lord will not suffer the soul of
the righteous to famish; but he castes away the substance of the
wicked."
"The Lord will not suffer the soul of
the righteous to famish." This proverb describes the general
providence and provision of God in meeting the physical needs of His
people.
The truth does not deny that there
may be times when we will find it difficult to provide for the needs
of ourselves or our families. Times of war, famine, or devastating
economic or social conditions, as well as periods of persecution,
may result in severe hardship for the righteous; nevertheless, God
will never abandon His children who trust fully in Him.
I also know that there are times
in our life that we bring hardships on ourselves. We do not have our
priorities in the right place.
As a minister myself, I have found
that I had to learn common sense. What I mean by this is I found
myself doing and giving things away that God did not intend for me
to do. Trying to make the ministry larger than God was ready for it
to be. At these times is when I saw struggle.
Yes, God wants us to minister to
others. He wants us willing to give our all. Did you
understand that? Just be willing.
But God does not want us to put
our own selves and our family in a condition
of being without,
as we do His work. He tells us in His word that when a minister of
the word puts others above His family he is no more than and
infidel.
(I Timothy 5:8)
But if any provide not for his
own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the
faith, and is worse than an infidel."
If you are doing a ministry for
the Lord, make sure it is exactly what God's wants you to do. If it
becomes a hardship, step back and ask God to show you a
different route that you may need to take. It maybe that God has
given you a vision for your ministry but the timing is off. See
sometimes we get ahead of the will of God for our lives. Remember,
God's Work should never be a hardship on his disciples.
When this happens it will make
others look at us and say, " They called themselves Minister's of
the Word, and they are having to beg. If that is what a Christian
has to do, I want NO part of it."
We have to let our testimony be a
testimony of praise. We need to share about the blessings of God on
us and our family.
Jesus and His disciples always had
all of their needs met. And as ministers of the Word of God, if we
are on the right track, I can say I know that I know that we will
have all of our needs taken care of.
