"A Letter
From Jesus"
Good Morning,
I pray that each of you are having a good week. I am staying
busy going places with my mama and sister. And
best of all, the Lord has allowed me to pray for so many sick
and hurting people. What a wonderful Lord I have.
Monday, we went to the Nursing Home. I gave the message and I
was blessed by the response of everyone. They all said the
message was a blessing to them, but again I believe I received
the best blessings of all. Their love and appreciation.
Tuesday, we went to a Revival Meeting where the minister (whom I
do not know, and he did not know me) laid hands on 3 people and
gave a prophecy, and I was one of them. WOW! What God has in
store for the ministry. I can hardly wait. He told me just what
God has already been sharing with me and Joe.
Today, Wednesday, we went to see a one of my mama's nieces she
had not seen in years. We were gone all day. Did not get home
until close to 7:00pm.
I think they are just wanting to go everywhere because they have
me to drive them around.
Anyway, if I can be a blessing to them, that is what I want to
be. Now lets get to the devotion.
"A Letter From
Jesus"
Ruth went to her
mail box and there was only one letter.
She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she
looked at the envelope again. There
was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address. She read
the letter:

Dear Ruth:
I'm going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon
and I'd like to stop by for a visit.
Love Always, Jesus
|
Her hands were
shaking as she placed the letter on the table. "Why would the
Lord want to visit me? I'm nobody special. I don't have anything
to offer." With that thought, Ruth
remembered her empty kitchen cabinets. "Oh my
goodness, I really don't have anything to offer. I'll
have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner." She
reached for her purse and counted out its contents. Five dollars
and forty cents.
"Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least."
She threw on her coat and hurried out the door.
A loaf of French bread, a half-pound of sliced turkey,
and a carton of milk... leaving Ruth
with grand total twelve cents to last her until Monday.
Nonetheless, she felt good as she headed home, her meager
offerings tucked under her arm.
"Hey lady, can you help us, lady?"
Ruth had been so absorbed in her dinner plans, she hadn't even
noticed two figures huddled in the
alleyway. A man and a woman, both of
them dressed in little more than rags
"Look lady, I ain't got a job, ya know, and my wife and I have
been living out here on the street, and, well, now it's getting
cold and we're getting kinda hungry
and, well, if you could help us. Lady, we'd really appreciate
it." Ruth looked at them both.
They were dirty, they smelled bad and frankly, she was certain
that they could get some kind of work
if they really wanted too.
"Sir, I'd like to help you, but I'm a poor woman myself.
All I have is a few cold
cuts and some bread, and I'm having an important guest for
dinner tonight and I was planning on
serving that to Him."
"Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway."
The man put his arm around the woman's shoulders, turned and
headed back into the alley.
As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her
heart.
"Sir, wait!" The couple stopped and turned as she ran down the
alley after them. "Look, why don't you take this food.
I'll figure out something else to serve my guest."
She handed the man her grocery bag.
"Thank you lady. Thank you very much!"
"Yes, thank you!" It was the man's wife, and Ruth could see now
that she was shivering.
"You know, I've got another coat at home. Here,
why don't you take this one." Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and
slipped it over the woman's shoulders. Then smiling, she turned
and walked back to the street...
without her coat and with nothing to serve her guest.
"Thank you lady! Thank you very much!"
Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front door, and
worried too.
The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to
offer Him. She fumbled through her
purse for the door key. But as she did, she noticed
another envelope in her mailbox. "That's odd. The mailman
doesn't usually come twice in one day." She took the envelope
out of the box and opened it.
Dear Ruth:
It was so good to see you again.
Thank you for the lovely meal. And thank you, too, for
the beautiful coat.
Love Always, Jesus |
The air was still
cold, but even without her coat, Ruth no longer noticed the
chill in the air.
Dear Friends, has Jesus visited you today, or were too busy to
even notice?

(Matthew 25:
31 - 46)
31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels
with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
32. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will
separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the
sheep from the goats.
33. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his
left.
34. "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you
who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom
prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and
you invited me in,
36. I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you
looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37. "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see
you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to
drink?
38. When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing
clothes and clothe you?
39. When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40. "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you
did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for
me.'
41."Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you
who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and
his angels.
42. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43. I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed
clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and
you did not look after me.'
44. "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or
thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison,
and did not help you?'
45. "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not
do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46. "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the
righteous to eternal life."
