November 12th Devotion
God always finishes what he starts
While I have been studying the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the
Philippians, I have seen that this is the most beautiful of Paul's letters,
full of tenderness, warmth, and affection. His style is spontaneous,
personal, and informal, presenting us with an intimate diary of Paul's own
spiritual experiences.
The dominate note throughout the letter is that of triumphant joy. Paul, though a prisoner, was exultantly happy, and called upon his readers to rejoice in Christ always. It is an ethical and practical letter in its emphasis and centers on Jesus Christ. To Paul, Christ was more than an example; He was the apostle's very life. The joy presented in Philippians evolves eager expectation of the near return of the Lord. That this expectation was dominant in Paul's thinking is seen in the many references to Christ return, and each reference is a note of joy. Now let us go into the study of Philippians. I hope that you are enjoying it, as much as I have studying the Book of Philippians. (Philippians 1:6) 6. "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." We need to believe that God always finishes what he starts, including His work in you! (Philippians 1: 21 - 24) 21. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23. I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24. but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. We should not fear death. Remember that dying in God's timing and will is only victory for a believer. (Philippians 1:29) 29. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, Also, we need to recognize and accept that true faith in Jesus Christ will involve suffering for His sake. Our inheritance as believers can only be received fully by taking a stand on what God has said in the face of contradicting circumstances, sometimes even suffering and death. The stance of faith eliminates fear and worry and brings the freedom to "rejoice evermore." True faith never say, " I cannot!" Such an utterance betrays unbelief. (Philippians 4: 4 - 13) 4. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. 10. I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. We should rejoice and make it a constant discipline! Refuse to worry about things. Understand that Jesus gives peace to those who trust Him and ask for His help. Choose to be contented in all circumstances. Know and believe that Jesus Christ will enable you to do anything He asks of you. Nothing is impossible for him who believes! Today's
devotion consist of a series of beautiful pictures and special
quotes. I am sure you have seen them before just as I have, but I
feel they are worth looking at and reading again.
Before I add the pictures with quotes that was sent to me from a Dear Friend, I want to add a few Bible Verses on Wisdom. I feel with all my heart and soul that Wisdom is a special gift that we must as the Bible says, "Seek." After the Bible verses there are 25 special quotes that I feel are a message within themselves. Please enjoy and be blessed. Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart. Psalm 51:6
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. James 1: 5
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3: 17(NKJV)
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all
your getting, get understanding.
Proverbs 4: 7
How much better it is to get skillful and godly Wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. Proverbs 16: 16
He who gains Wisdom loves his own life; he who keeps understanding shall prosper and find good. Proverbs 19: 8
