Devotion 16
I am sharing a devotion tonight from Kate Nowak.  There is also a movie to watch that tells the story of  Johnny who worked at a grocery store.
He did not let his disability stop him from being a blessing and motivator of people.  Remember, our actions can destroy or bill a life up. What are your actions telling people

We all have a desire to make a difference, don't we? We want to
make our mark on the world, to leave it a better place than it was
when we came. It's a desire that's as good as hardwired into our
DNA, one of the six human needs that speaker/writer/motivator Tony
Robbins says we all share. We not only want to change to world, we
feel an innate need to do so.

But in a word as fraught with turmoil as this one, how do we go
about it? Making any kind of change at all, at first thought, seems
almost impossible. And to compound the difficulty, we feel so
limited, reminded almost daily that it takes money and power and
armies and new laws designed to benefit the downtrodden if we are
to change the world; resources that few of us have at our disposal.
In truth, however, making a difference in our world is not so much
about resources as it is about resourcefulness. It is not as
dependent upon what we have at our disposal as it is upon what we
are willing to do with what we have. Changing the world doesn't
take as much money and power and new laws as we have been fooled
into believing. It's more like eating the proverbial elephant --
best done one bite, or one small, seemingly insignificant, change
at a time. And each and every one of us is capable of making that
 one change.

All we need do is look around us, focus on what we can do and then
mimic Edward Everett Hale in declaring to the world, "I am only
one, but I am one.  I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do."

We have to be like Johnny, the supermarket bag boy, who wanted so
badly to make a difference that he refused to let his limitations
stop him. If you are not familiar with Johnny's story of how he
made an incredible impact on his world by doing what he could, I am
delighted to provide an introduction. It is a beautiful story of
hope and purpose and one worthy of being told again and again.

Recently my friends at Simple Truths released a movie centered on
Johnny's story. I watched it this morning and knew at once I wanted
to make a difference by sending it on to you. I think it will touch
your heart and move your spirit just as it had done mine. And
hopefully, it will inspire us all to look for new ways we can use
the resources we have at hand to make a difference in the lives of
others. That is, after all, what we all yearn to do. It is what we
 feel a need to do.
