"Holy Spirit Arise In Me Today"
St. John 14:15-17, "Jesus Promises Another Helper" 15. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17. the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. Acts 2: 1-2, "Coming of the Holy Spirit" 1. When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. "Pat's Opinion" I was thinking about when we pray, how many of us ask for help and direction from the Holy Spirit? When we pray, we usually say something like, "Father God as I come to you today.....etc. And we are supposed to pray to God our Father, just as Jesus did. We are to pray In Jesus Name, so that God may be glorified. But we also need to ask the Holy Spirit to rise up in us and direct us. In St. John, "Jesus told His disciples that He would ask His Father to send us a helper, and He did. He sent the Holy Spirit." In Acts, "the Holy Spirit did ascend as a sound of a mighty rushing wind and filled the room where the disciples were sitting." Read the verse carefully, not a wind, but the sound of a wind, suggesting the mighty but unseen power of the Spirit. St. John 3:5-8, 5. Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” In the verses above, we see that when you are saved you are born of water and the Spirit. The water is just a symbol of washing away the old sin, and being cleansed as a sinless person. A new creation with a new feature. Praise God! When you confess Jesus as your personal Savior, then you are saved and by the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit comes into your heart to live. There is no other way to be saved except through Jesus. In churches today, we sing, "Holy Spirit You Are Welcome In This Place", but do you realized that if you are saved the Holy Spirit lives within you? Have you welcomed Him into your life? The Holy Spirit is the helper that God sent to help us do His work; the work that Jesus did while we walk on earth as a man. It is the work that Jesus commanded us to do, if we love Him. Let the Holy Spirit arise up in you today, and see God glorified by the things you can do for Him. God is waiting for you to give you many gifts. Just let the Holy Spirit arise in you today. Remember the Holy Spirit is a gentleman, He is God, and of God, and He will not force Himself on you. He waits for you to just ask. I want Him active in my life. There are times I truly need the Holy Spirit to intercede for me, and through me. How about you? **"Bible Notes: In the Old Testament only those uniquely called or anointed of God received the Holy Spirit. But under the New Covenant every believer is offered the Promise of the Father, the active presence of the Holy Spirit. It is by this (Luke 24:49), "Behold, I sent the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.") Spirit's fullness in the life of every believer that the ministry of Christ in His Church continues. 1. Believe that the power of God comes only by the Holy Spirit. 2. Do not attempt ministry without the Holy Spirit. 3.Seek and receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Continually be refilled with the Spirit to regularly renew your life and ministry. 4. Exercise your prayer language as a part of the Spirit's flow in your life. 5. Expect your Spirit-filled relationship with Jesus to help you speak boldly, with courage and spiritual understanding. 6. Share Jesus boldly. Ask the Holy Spirit to confirm your testimony.** Joyfully, In The Master's
Service
