"Get married!" exploded Mike. "You're going to get married? To Mr. Ford?
Why? He's got two kids already. He doesn't want us. Why don't you marry
Dad again?"
"Mike, you know that after your dad left us, he married someone else. He
won't be back," said Mom quietly. "I thought you liked Jim."
"Not for a father!" exclaimed Mike. He turned and ran out the door and
into his neighbor's backyard. "Mom's going to marry a man with two
little boys!" Mike told Mr. Jones angrily. "I don't want someone else's
dad! I've got to get away." He sank down onto a porch step. "I'm going
to leave-for good! If they get married, I'll never be happy here."
"And do you think you'll find happiness someplace else?" asked Mr.
Jones.
Mike shrugged. "I sure won't find it here!"
"You know, Mike," said Mr. Jones, "happiness isn't something you find.
It's something you make by trusting God. The Bible tells us that Paul
and Silas sang even though they were in prison. Learn from their
example. Realize that you can be happy, too, even when things aren't
particularly pleasant." Mr. Jones put an arm around Mike. "You're a
Christian, Mike. Won't you trust God to help you?" he asked.
"But I . . . but he . . ." Mike began to protest.
"I know this is a difficult time for you, but what about your little
brother and sister?" asked Mr. Jones. "Would it be right to run off and
let them face things alone? They'll need their big brother. Your new
brothers will need help, too-it will be difficult for them as well as
for you. You can be a witness for the Lord to all of them."
Mike hesitated. "Well, maybe," he murmured.
"I think your future stepfather deserves a chance to be a good dad for
all of you, don't you?" encouraged Mr. Jones.
Again Mike hesitated. "Everyone deserves a chance, I guess," he finally
admitted.
Mr. Jones nodded. "Let's both pray that God will use you to help make
happiness for everyone."
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Does something in your life make you unhappy? Do you wish you could
leave it and go your own way? Running away from problems doesn't bring
happiness. That comes from trusting God, even in difficult times. Ask
Him to help you accept things you cannot change and to do your best to
make life happy for those around you. Then you'll find that you're
happier, too.
TODAY'S KEY VERSE:
Whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Proverbs 16:20

Have you asked Jesus to be
your Savior? He’s waiting to hear from you!

Admit honestly
to God that you have sinned and disobeyed Him.
The Bible says:
-
Romans 3:23 “All have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
-
Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death
(everlasting punishment).”
No sin is allowed in heaven.

Believe that
Jesus died on the cross and rose again. His blood was shed to pay for
your sins.
The Bible says:
- 1
Corinthians 15:3-4 “Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He
rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
-
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His
own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us.”
- John
3:16 “For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life.”
Because Jesus loves you so
much, He took the punishment for you so that you can be forgiven.

Choose to trust Jesus alone for the forgiveness of your
sins.
The Bible says:
-
Romans 10:13 “Whoever calls on the name
of the Lord shall be saved.”
- John
3:18 “He who believes in Him (Jesus) is
not condemned.”
When you trust in Jesus Christ alone
to save you, God forgives you! You become His child, and He promises you
a home in heaven forever! Put your trust in Jesus as your Savior from
sin. Do it today, and begin following Him by obeying His Word, the
Bible.
