Devotion 28

In planting a church you have so many decisions to make.  You also as a human wonder at times where and how is it going to happen and take place.

I also know that you cannot look to man or woman, but to God to lead you and help you.

I have learned that faith is, in essence, taking God at His Word and His Word at face value. I know that when God is telling you to do something new that you have to remember that God has limitless supply of resources for all who trust in and obey Him. Fearing that we will not have enough in times or need insults the God who has revealed Himself as Yahweh-Yireh, The Lord Our Provider.

2 Kings 4: 1 - 7

The Widow's Oil

1 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the LORD. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves."

2 Elisha replied to her, "How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?"
"Your servant has nothing there at all," she said, "except a little oil."

3 Elisha said, "Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don't ask for just a few.

4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side."

5 She left him and afterward shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.

6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another one."
But he replied, "There is not a jar left." Then the oil stopped flowing.

7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left."

We need to believe that God is able to supply our needs, even when we have no idea how. We must know that God promises to keep His people alive in famine. This applies spiritually, too; God's spiritual resources for us are limitless, even during times of spiritual drought.

2 Kings 4:43-44

43 "How can I set this before a hundred men?" his servant asked.  But Elisha answered, "Give it to the people to eat. For this is what the LORD says: 'They will eat and have some left over.' "

44 Then he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the LORD.

We must choose to believe that we will always have enough resources to do the will of God.

As we set our hearts on God and be zealous for God with our whole heart we will see the Glory of God take place in our ministry.

Love, Blessings, and Prayers,

Pastor Pat
