Devotion 24
"Grab A Good Steak And See What Happens"
Coffee With Pat This week has gone a little faster than last week. As I have been working on my devotions this week, I have wondered why so many churches are staying stagnant. Not growing and not seeing the Holy Spirit working in the church. The answer came loud and clear in my heart and spirit. They are not ready. They have attended church for years, but they are still babes in Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:1-3) says, "And I, brethren, (talking to the church) could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk and not with meat, for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal, for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?" "It is time that churches everywhere stop having to be bottle fed, and gumming their food. It is time they bear some fruit, and stand up, and be held accountable. It is time to stop putting sugar on the end of that pacifier, and get busy seeking God's Word. I promise you that you will soon be eating Filet Mignon, cooked rare. You will be able to handle anything." Pastor Pat Aman (Hebrews 5:11-13) says, "Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be unuttered, seeing ye are dull hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of the oracles of God, and age become such as have need to milk and not of strong meat. For every one that useth mild is unskillful, in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil" These scriptures show here, it is the natural man acting in contrast to the spiritual man. Living in the babyhood of Christian faith. Paul classes envying, strife, and divisions as carnality. Paul also says that "If you have been professed Christians long enough to be teachers, but because of your laziness and dullness in grasping truth, you must be taught a second time the first simple doctrines of Christ. You have not grown al all." There are two characteristics of babes in these verses. First Dull of hearing and second unskillful in the word. So, where are you in Christ? Is your hearing good? Do you hear from God? Do you read the Bible and know His promises for you and your family? In others words do you know God Word? What your answer is to the above questions will let you know if you are a babe in Christ are if you are you need to grow up. We need to be seeing miracles happen in our church. We need to be seeing the moving of the Holy spirit. When is this going to happen? When God sees that we are ready for steak, the meat of the word. The Holy Spirit cannot move in our churches and homes, if we are not ready, because we could not handle it. It is time we grew up and stop warming the pews. You want to see a miracle, then get up off your backside and stop drinking from a bottle. Ask God for steak and then see the glory of God take place in your lives and church.
