Joshua had been challenged! God commissioned him to lead the children of Israel into the promised land. Joshua had been chosen to assume the responsibility of leadership in the place of Moses, one of the greatest leaders of all time. Joshua received his marching orders from God. Joshua knew that the task was beyond his natural ability. He realized the seriousness of being the leader. Fear gripped his heart. How could he handle such a responsibility? It seemed an insurmountable task.
The Jordan River was at flood stage. He had been in the land before to survey it and knew the strength of enemy. But he could move forward, standing firmly on God's promise, "As I was with Moses, so I will be with you." Having God with him, Joshua was a majority. Courage is, firmly facing difficulties and obstacles, knowing God has promised to be with you.
Joshua could move into the land with strength and courage, focusing not on the obstacles but on God, who is completely trustworthy.
(Joshua 1:5) "The Lord said, "No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you."
(James 4:8) "Come near to god and He will come near to you.
