THAT’S WHY I’M REJOICING
I am happy and I am carefree
And I am rejoicing because Christ forgave me,
I once was miserable and lonely and sad,
It’s an understatement to say I felt bad.
I had no future, no hope and no goal,
And I feared when I died I’d lose my poor soul.
I’d heard Christ had died, I knew he was God’s son,
But accept him as my Savior I never had done.
Then one day God’s Spirit got through to me-
Admit you’re a sinner and you can be set free.
Finally I understood, I saw the light,
I confessed my sin and I got saved that night.
I knew I was unworthy, I had nothing to give,
But Jesus had died so that I could live.
How could my Savior love this sinner so much?
He set me free with his gentle touch.
That’s why I’m rejoicing and I’m happy and carefree,
Jesus, God’s Son, gave Salvation to me.
I did not earn it, there was no way that I could,
And he didn’t reward me because I was good.
When I saw myself, truly, as a vile, lost sinner,
Christ then could forgive me and make me a winner.
Christ came into my life and abides now with me,
It’s great to live for him since he made me sin free.
