Devotion 20

Hello Everyone,

I have been asked by so many to do a Bible Study. My first thought was when will I have time.  But at your request we will be studying the Book of Romans.  No, it will not take the place of the daily devotions.  If you want to be in on the study of Romans, you need to go to the "Coffee With Pat" web-site and click on the link on the left side of the page that says, the study of Romans.  I will update with a new study once a week until the study is complete.

The Book of Deuteronomy has steps to show us how to know God ways. The book focuses on how God brings His people to maturity. He will not allow us to skip any of the steps in the process and will make sure we complete it.

And I promise you that you will also repeat the same step over and over again, until you can conquer it. So, it is best to take your time and complete the process as God wants you too, and at His timing.

Deuteronomy 2:14

14. Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

We must know that God will always bring you back to face any area of growth you have tried to skip.

Deuteronomy 7:22

22 The LORD your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you.

Here God teaches us that the initial conquest of the land would be sudden, but the settlement and complete conquest would be a gradual process. This would allow the Israelites to grow in numbers and to take over the land in an orderly fashion without its reverting to a primitive state.

So we ourselves should not despise small advances. The process toward maturity is made up mostly of small steps, rather than major ones.

Deuteronomy 32: 11 - 12

11 like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.

12 The LORD alone led him; no foreign god was with him.

To be at peace with yourself and your road to maturity you must rest in God's nurturing care and know that He has committed Himself to care for you, guide you, and bring you to maturity.
