~Daily Devotion July 28th~

Matthew 5:13-16
13."You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14."You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
15.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Jesus calls us to a holiness that proceeds from the heart. Holiness is now the outcome of personal loyalty to God and the realization of the fulfilling fruitfulness originally intended for mankind.

We should recognize that our life has either a positive or negative effect. We need to live a life of responsibly, so as to bring glory to God. We as Christians need to be loyal to God. Forsake any ambition that compromises our commitment to God. We should acknowledge that only God has power over death and hell. So we should have reverence for Him.

We need to discern between the secular worlds claims, and those of God. And daily honor the Lord as the highest authority.

If we as disciples lose the flavor of true discipleship in striving after selfish, ambition, we become useless as Christians. Instead of wanting a position of preference, we are to allow the salt of the gospel to preserve us from selfish ambition, so we can do the work of God.
