Devotion 12
"Attending Church"

Hebrews 19: 19-25, 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

21 and having a High Priest over the house of God,

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

The above scriptures tell us to "hold fast to our confession." Devotion is concentration on a particular pursuit, purpose, or cause.  He who is devoted to Jesus recognized his fleshly tendency to become lackadaisical and studies to avoid it. The Scriptures shape his thinking, and he devotes time to prayer, to waiting upon the Lord, and to assemble together with other fellow believers, in praise and thanksgiving.

You need to give your full attention to God's Word and your relationship with Jesus. Let Jesus and His Word be the foundation and sustainer of your thinking. Celebrate daily that you have gained access to God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Continually draw near to God with a blameless heart and faith. Gather often with God's people to encourage and urge them on in righteousness. Seek God diligently. Believe that He will reward you for it. Practice persistent and patient praise.

The Key to verse 25 is by gathering together with other fellow Christians, you can encourage each other, and help each other in your daily walk.

The time is drawing near when Jesus is coming back to take His bride (the church), to be with Him in the New Jerusalem. Let's be watchful and ready for that day.

Joyfully, In The Master's Service
 Blessings, Prayers and Love,
 Pastor Pat
