Do you have a sermon that sticks in your mind no matter how long you have been saved?  That's how it is with the story of Caleb and the mountain.  Remember the spies that the people of Israel sent out into the land of Canaan to do a sort of recognizance?  Of all that went out, only Joshua and Caleb came back and in so many words told them, "With God, I think we can take 'em!"  Well, it was a great indication of Caleb's character.  We know a lot about Joshua, but Caleb's trust in God was no less spectacular.  When it came time to divide the land, nobody really wanted the hill country of Hebron, but Caleb was 85 years old by this time, yet still as strong as the day they started.  These are his words, "Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified.  It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said."  In other words, "Bring it on!  With the Lord on my side, what's a few giants, fortresses and mountains?"  When faced with a mountain in your life, do you run like the other spies, crying about how high and formidable it is, or do you face it like Caleb, ready for anything, because God is on your side?

This is the Crabb Family declaring, "That's no mountain!"

That's No Mountain
Joshua 14:6-15

I looked at that mountain that stood in my way
Would this be my last climb, would this be my fate?
How my heart beat so fearful, what challenge awaits
But, strength rose up in me, God's power and grace

Chorus:
That's no mountain for a climber
I know what awaits at the peak
Jesus is there watching over, to see if His help I should need
He makes sure that His dear precious children
Don't fall by the trial so steep
That's no mountain for a climber
When the maker of the mountain is standing by me

I beheld all the footprints that had been there before
Up through the cliffs and the rocks til' I could see them no more
And, I wondered what brave ones would challenge such feat
Gods said, "It's the saints, child, that's gone on before thee."

Chorus

That's no mountain for a climber
When the maker of the mountain is standing by me

Father God, when we are faced with mountains in this life, please remind us that You are there, every step of the way!  Not only are You with us, but the mountain is under Your control!  There is nothing that faces us as Your children, that is stronger than You are!  Lord, we believe, please help our unbelief!  Like the man who said this years ago, we do have faith, but it needs to grow.  We ask that You grow our faith to the point that it can move mountains, or at least conquer them in Your name!  Let us be able to proclaim like Caleb, "Give me that mountain!", so that all the world will see the power of our God!  We pray in the name of Jesus, our Lord, our Savior, our Protector and Friend, amen.
