"Friendship"
In
this day and time it seems that people do not take friendship as it use to be.
Where have true friendship gone?
As we
begin this New Year, let's open our hearts to Friendship, the kind of
friendship that God gives to us, a friendship of love.

I
visited with my mama, of 92 years and she talked about her old
friends. It seemed that they were right there with her. Even though
most of them are gone to their Heavenly Home, she still has fond
memories.
Memories
of helping each other without wanting something back.
Memories
of "just hollow and I will drop what I am doing and come
immediately."
Memories
of I know you are having a bad day, so I will lift you up in prayer.
Memories
of I am here to help you through the loss of a friend are love one.
Memories
of laughter, tears, and sharing times of
good and the bad.
Memories
of you can count on me.

Oh, to
have that kind of friendships again, not just fair weather friends.
Aren't
we glad God love us and does not disappear when we need Him the most.
There
are times in our life when we have made friends, but with the circumstances of
life we have moved away from one another.
This
does not mean we are not friends anymore, but just precious memories in our
hearts.
Those
kinds of friends are the friends that even though you are miles apart, you know
you can call on them and they will be there for you.
To
describe friendship it seems that we're stuck with simple adjectives. Close
friend. Best friend. Childhood friend. Intimate friend. Trusted friend. Beloved
friend. But whether you use adjectives or different words, few could deny the
nearly infinite meaning in such a simple word.
Friends
are special people. We can't pick our family, and we're sorely limited in the
number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience)
dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite
as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the
choices we make in life.

The poem below I feel
really tells the meaning of true friendship. Please read it and reflect on your
friendships.

"A friend loves at all times..."

Lighting Your
Way
Written By: James Davidson

If I was one thing, I'd be a
candle
Lighting the way so you can handle
Your life easier without woes
Not having to fight with your foes.
I'd help keep you from stumbling over
Things blocking your path to an open door.
If I light your path, life is easier,
Even strong winds, my light will not deter.
No matter what, I'm here for you
To cheer you up when you are blue.
Do not fret when times get tough,
If things look down or kind of rough.
Just remember, I'm always here,
In your heart, close and near.
I will help you out in every way,
Happiness and love in your heart will stay.
Don't blow me out, that's one request
For this friendship will past the test..
I do not try to hurt anyone
That isn't good or any fun.
But one day you may leave me behind
You may no longer need my light to shine.
If that day comes, go on your way
And I will hope to see you again one day.
If one day, I don't appear,
Do not worry, do not fear
I may be gone, but in your heart
The light I gave you did not depart.
It will be there forever and a day

To always bring happiness and
light your way.
Farewell for now, I'm needed elsewhere
If your path grows dark, in your heart, I'm there.
So I'm really not gone, just not seen,
I would not leave, I'm not that mean.
Only one simple request that I must say,
Please, never forget those who lit your way.
