God's Way For Marriage

Happy Valentine's Day

What is a Christian Marriage?

Jesus tells us how important it is to have a godly marriage.

There are so many divorces today that the world sees marriage as a contract that can be broken with no reason at all.

I believe with all my heart, that if Joe and I did not have Christ in the center of our marriage that we would have been one of those divorces.

Without Christ being the center of the marriage, you will not make it. As a couple you should daily, pray together.

God honors a  marriage where Christ is the head, and is directing the path of the couple.

Today, make Christ the head and center point of your marriage and see the difference your lives will take.

What is marriage?

Joe and I have been married 30 years, on June 18, 2007.

Has it been easy? No, at times it has truly been hard. We have had our ups and downs. But Praise God, we had enough sense to know that we must depend on God.

Being married 30 years, you get to really know each other. I can tell what Joe is thinking, before he says anything, and he knows the same about me.

We have had to depend on God, when we did not know what we needed to do,   even to the point of where we would live.

We have raised two Christian daughters.  They love the Lord, but they also know what it is like to have a good marriage. They know that it is being able to stay together through the good and the bad.

My parents were married 62 years when Daddy went to be with the Lord.  They raised six children. We asked Mama after Daddy died, why we never heard them argue? She said they had their moments, but they took them to the bedroom and never went to bed mad at each other. She said they never said things to hurt each other. They just were able to talk it out. She also said that there were times they did not agree, but they respected one anothers opinion. They never used the words, "I told you so." They just cared for  one another enough to know what true love is all about. WOW! What a marriage!

That is the key, communication. Being able to talk it over in a sensible manner, without shouting and raging a war.

This is the key to a Happy Marriage

Psalm 91: 1 & 4

 1. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

 4. He will cover you with his feathers,
       and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Webster's Dictionary defines marriage as, "the state of being married; wedlock; the act of marring or the ceremony entered into by a man and woman so as to live together as husband and wife. The ability or being able.

Did you understand the last five words of the definitions, "the ability or being able." That means once married we have the ability and are able to stay together, as husband and wife, til death do we part.

St. John 2: 1-9,11, "On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His desciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine," Jesus said to her, "Woman what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, "Draw some out now, take it to the master of the feast." And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants knew) the master of the feast called the bridegroom. This was the beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him."

Jesus also knew the marriage between a man and woman was so important that His first miracle was done at a wedding. He turn the water into wine.

Hebrews 13:4, "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge."

Genesis 2: 24, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
