Devotion 1

Discovering Christ's Very Life In You.

(Colossians 1: 25 - 29)

25.I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness—

26.the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.

27. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

28. We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

29. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.

Understand that all hope of real "glory" is in discovering Christ's very life in you.

(Colossians 3: 16 - 17)

16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

17. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him

Be diligent in Bible study and practice Scripture memorization and meditation. Let the Word in you produce praise to God and edification of others. Serve Jesus' purposes in every thought, word, and deed.

(Colossians 4: 2 - 6)

2. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

3. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.

4. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

5. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

6. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone

Become a person of prayer. Repent of any prayerlessness in your life. Recognize God's gift of time and use it wisely. Speak with grace and wisdom in answer to all.

Always in the New Testament, the call to whole-hearted discipleship is accompanied by the call to a life of devotion. To devote is "to concentrate on a particular pursuit or purpose." A life of devotion to Christ pursues His purpose, His being reproduced in us.
