Devotion 27
"If
you cannot handle the small work that God may be having you do, then how
will you be able to handle the large work that God wants you to do?"
Pastor Pat Aman
(Jeremiah 12:1) says, "You are
always righteous, O Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak
with about your justice; Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all
the faithless live at ease?"
WOW! How many times have we ask God
the same age old question?
Then God gave him one of those
wonderful answers in (Jeremiah 12:5) "If you have raced
with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses?"
As Jeremiah thought what in the
world does racing with men and competing with horses have to do with the
question I asked?
If we read the whole chapter we
soon learn that God is telling Jeremiah to stand fast, wait and see the glory
of God. In other words God is saying, "do not get worn out with the little
things in life. Do not question what is going on around you. It will just
make you sick and will wear you out. Then you will not be able to do what I
need you to do when I prosper you. When I take care of the unrighteous and
turn the land back to you."
We need to stand fast, and not
worry over what others may be doing. We need to spend more of our time
praying and seeking God for the work He has for us to do.
Let's begin now by letting God do
His work and we do ours. Then we will not have the time to question why
certain things happen.
Just have faith and know that God
is in control. And God will prosper and bless you when He knows that yes, you
are ready to compete with horses.
