Devotion 17
Hello Everyone,

I can say it is hard to do a devotion after watching the news about the tragic killings in Virginia, at Virginia Tech, only about 3 hours from us.

I think of the students whom may have been graduating this year and what their life's plans may have been.

My heart aches for the parents and people who lost loves ones and family, and friends.

See, I think of our two daughters.  Anna graduates May 11th from the North Carolina University - College of Veterinarian Medicine.  Then she will be moving to another Veterinarian Teaching College to do her internship.

Then Tara who has taught school for seven years has been accepted into the Principle Fellow Graduate Program where she will be on a College Campus again getting her Master's in Principle  Administration, and then she will be a Principle in Public  School.

I also remember that when Anna graduated from High School, that they had police officers, snipers on the building and the water tower and FBI agents on the graduation field because someone had threaten to kill the principle at the graduation exercises and this was in a small rural community.

Anna was the valedictorian and yes, we were restless and concern as she got up to speak, wondering if the person was somewhere in the mist waiting to shoot her and others around her.

What do our children have to face in their lives? We cannot answer that question, but we can know that God is in control.

As parents it is so important to be a Godly parent. A parent that knows that they can ask God to watch over their children and keep them safe.

For my families sake I have to stand on God's Word and have faith.
I cannot play church and then run to God and ask Him to protect my family.  Joe and I raised our girls to know Jesus as their personal Savior, but they also saw Jesus as their parents personal Savior.

Yes, today I do know that there are some good Christian parents who maybe asking God why today?  Why did you let my son or daughter die?

Friends, I do not have the answer to this question myself either.  I can say that satan is out to kill, steal, and destroy, for my Bible tells me this.  I do know that evil existence in this world.  I do know that we are free agents and and have a free will, and we can decide to live for Christ or live for satan. God is a gentleman and does not force Himself on us.

The person who committed these killings caused innocence people to die.

This is the very reason that we need to reach the world for Christ, we need to stop fighting among ourselves and in our churches. We need to spend every moment of our lives leading someone to Jesus Christ.  We as parents need to make sure we are doing everything possible to tell our children about Jesus.

See, if someone had been able to reach this individual and tell him of Jesus love and Salvation, maybe this disaster would not had happen today on this Virginia College Campus.

But I can say that all I can do is stand on God's word, pray, and believe His promise to me about my family.

I just have to put my family in His hands and have faith.

Psalm 91

 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
       will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
       my God, in whom I trust."

 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
       and from the deadly pestilence.

 4 He will cover you with his feathers,
       and under his wings you will find refuge;
       his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

 5 You will not fear the terror of night,
       nor the arrow that flies by day,

 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
       nor the plague that destroys at midday.

 7 A thousand may fall at your side,
       ten thousand at your right hand,
       but it will not come near you.

 8 You will only observe with your eyes
       and see the punishment of the wicked.

 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
       even the LORD, who is my refuge-

 10 then no harm will befall you,
       no disaster will come near your tent.

 11 For he will command his angels concerning you
       to guard you in all your ways;

 12 they will lift you up in their hands,
       so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
       you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
       I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
       I will be with him in trouble,
       I will deliver him and honor him.

 16 With long life will I satisfy him
       and show him my salvation."

Blessings, Love and Prayers,
