"Can Your Children See Jesus In You?"
Today would have been my daddy's 97th birthday, but he went to be the Lord in March of 1992 at the age of 82. When daddy went to be with the Lord, we said he has gone to help Jesus build the kingdom and get it ready for us. See, everywhere we moved, daddy always went ahead and found a place to live and a church to attend. When we arrived everything was ready. So that is why we know he went ahead, to make sure things are ready. I had a wonderful daddy. He believed that the Word Of God, was the Infallible Word Of God. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. The verse's I remember him quoting and he stood on them the most was, I John 5:18 "We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him." and James 5:14-16 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Daddy was a gentle and loving man. All of his children respected and loved him. He was 6 feet 5 inches tall. He average weight was around 235. He was all muscle. He had the prettiest light blue eyes. And when he looked at you with those eyes, you knew you better behave. He did not have to speak a word; his eyes did all the talking. They also would light up with the love of God. And when he talked about his family they would glow. Even though mama did most of the whooping as they called it. If daddy got involved, you knew you had been whooped. Thank God, he only gave me a pop on the behind one time, when I was six years old. Now mama that is a different story. Those little thin (keen as we say in Louisiana) switches, she knew how to use them. I know, I have been there , and done that, as they say. I think I spent more time outside the church on Sundays, than inside. Mama would give one warning, then if you were not sitting still, then brother watch out. She would grab you up and before you knew it, one of the bushes at the church, was minus one keen limb. One of those bushes really looked bare, maybe mama was not the only one who used it, as a lesson teacher. When I walked down the church aisle to be saved at the age of five, my daddy, took me by the hand, and walked with me. When I told daddy and mama I wanted to ask Jesus into my heart, they ask the preacher to come to the house and we talked about it. So when Sunday came, I was excited, and my daddy was right there with me, excited also. And then that very Sunday night, my mama went with me to be baptized. I could go on and on about daddy and mama. I had a great daddy and still have the best mama, at the grand old age of 91. The question tonight is, if your children were talking about you, what would they say? Can your children tell their friends, I hear my daddy and mama pray, and they pray with us. Can your children tell their friends what your favorite bible scripture or something that you say, that has made a difference in your life? It's not as much as you say, but what you do and how you act that effects the lives of those around you. Do others see Christ in you? Do your children know, that you know Jesus as your personal Savior? Rev. Patricia Aman Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. for the Jew first and also for the Greek." Your life is only as productive as the freshness of your walk with God. Rev.Randy Shankle II Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new." I know with confidence that my children know who I am in the Lord. As a matter of fact, my oldest was at work one day, and she heard a mama say to her daughter. "We will just bind satan, and that spirit of fear, because I will not let you have that same spirit of fear that your daddy had and was deliver from. "Satan is a liar and he is defeated in Jesus Name. My daughter called me and said, "mama I told someone today, that you sound just like my mama. Binding satan and quoting scriptures. God reminded my daughter of the faith her mama has in God. And God blessed me by letting my daughter tell someone that her mama was a Christian lady full of the Spirit of God and His Love. Again, can your children and others tell that you are a Christian, and not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ?
