May will be here in a few days. We will celebrate Mother's Day. Some of our Mother's or Grandmothers have left their earthly home, for their heavenly home. But they have never left our hearts.

I can see my grandmother today, cooking Old Fashion Tea Cakes. I have her recipe, but my tea cakes just do not taste the same. Everyone tells me that I am shaped like her. That's okay, because I never looked at her large hips, just her large heart.

She would sit in a rocking chair by the fireplace. Papa, my grandfather made a new bottom for the chair out of deer skin. I am honored today to own that rocking chair. When I sit in the chair I think of her and all the wonderful times we had at her house.

I am blessed also to still have my mama at the age of 91. I talk to her everyday. I tell her I love her.

There is a poem I love, "When You Thought I Wasn't Looking" I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

"Take the time to tell someone Thank You and I Love You now! Do not wait until they are gone." Pastor Pat Aman

I was ten years old when my grandmother went to her heavenly home. I wish I had told her thank you for all she did for us. I now tell my mama Thank You and I Love You, everyday.

Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

"You are the only Bible that some may read. You are the first Bible your children see." Pastor Pat Aman

"When You Thought I Wasn't Looking"

Written By: Mary Rita Schilke Korzan

When you thought I wasn't looking you hung my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another.

When you thought I wasn't looking you fed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking you baked a birthday cake just for me, and I knew that little things were special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking you said a prayer, and I believed there was a God that I could always talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking you kissed me goodnight, and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt--but that it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking you smiled, and it made me want to look that pretty, too.

When you thought I wasn't looking you cared, and I wanted to be everything I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking---I looked...and wanted to say thanks for all those things you did when you thought I wasn't looking.
