Devotional January 3, 2009

Today's devotion is not one a lot of people like to hear, but it is one we need to hear.  Sometimes God allow someone to say something that will make us look at ourselves and say, "hey, we better get things back in order."

So, today I am that someone.  In this New Year we need to stand up and make a change, in our lives and our world.

God Bless Each of you

Joel 2:15-17

15 Blow the trumpet in Zion,
      Consecrate a fast,
      Call a sacred assembly;

  16 Gather the people,
      Sanctify the congregation,
      Assemble the elders,
      Gather the children and nursing babes;
      Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber,
      And the bride from her dressing room.

17 Let the priests, who minister to the LORD,
      Weep between the porch and the altar;
      Let them say, “Spare Your people, O LORD,
      And do not give Your heritage to reproach,
      That the nations should rule over them.
      Why should they say among the peoples,

      ‘ Where is their God?’”

Joel's prophecies explain how a people must deal with corporate sin. His prophetic warnings and exhortations are addressed primarily to the spiritual leaders. He calls them first to lead in wholehearted repentance and then to confront the people's sin. Corporate fast and solemn assemblies to cry out to the Lord are some of the practices Joel recommends to deal with corporate sin.

We must see the verses above are telling us that we must repent quickly with mourning when sin is discovered in you. confess your sin and let God work in your heart. continually turn to God and set your affections on His will and His ways. Call for Revival. Enjoin the elders to lead in fasting and prayer. Be assured that there is no sin for which Jesus' blood cannot atone.

When we look at the world around us, we see strife, wars, and confusion.  We see our government official in trouble with the laws of the land.

As Christians we must first ask God to forgive us for not standing up and screaming from the bottom of our lungs, that we still have Religious Freedom.

See, we have allowed our government to take Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, and Bible Reading out of our schools.  We allow corrupt official to be elected to our government offices.

Our forefather if they knew, they would be turning over in their graves at what has happen in America. They came from England to be able to have Religious Freedom, and to worship God.

Look at all the building in Washington DC that God or Scriptures written on them. Look at our currency, "In God We Trust." By the way it is now being removed.

Remember the Pledge of Allegiance, One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All

As Christians we need to repent and ask God to save our nation.  It is time to not only repent, but to fast and pray. It is time for people to stop blaming God for what is going on in this world. He has not caused it.  Our self will has allow it. God will not go against our self-will.

I had enough, how about you?
