Devotional January 1, 2009
WOW! Last year was such a blessing
for Coffee With Pat. We had over 57 Praise Reports of people whom God
touched and healed and Praise God, 112 people excepted Jesus as their
personal Savior. We sent out 71 Bibles and 102 Prayer clothes. We had
communion (The Lord's Supper) 31 times over the internet. What a tool the
internet has become.
We have also set up Web-Cam, so if
someone also has web-cam, Communion can now be even more personal.
God is so good, and I thank Him that
He gave me the honor of being the Coffee With Pat Internet Pastor. I will
continue to honor and praise Him daily. For He is my strength and my hope.
This year I did have a sadness in my
heart, because my mama went to Heaven. But, she lived a long and prosper
life. She was a witness for her Lord and Savior. She told of His love and
saving grace until she took her last breathe. See, she as we are, have been
on assignment here on this earth to carry out His and share His grace, mercy
and hope to a sinful and dying world. Our home is in Heaven, and earth is
just an assignment for us. And I am looking forward to the day that my
assignment is up and I will be reunited with my loves ones whom have gone
before me.
So, I asked you are you fulfilling
the assignment God has put you here to complete. 2009 is a New Year, a New
Beginning. What happened in 2008 is gone, and either good or bad, we can
look to God and know He is willing to lead us into a New and Exciting Year.
So, together, let's step into 2009, with excitement and enthusiasm. Let
each of us say, "God here am I, send me."
Also, again we have increased in Team
Members, and each year, people ask me why the little cow at the bottom of
the page. At times I have thought about removing it, but then I look at it
and it makes me laugh, and I hope that it also makes someone else laugh.
See, I believe that a lot of people
do not want to go to church or become involved with Christians because they
see so many Christians whom are sad and do not know how to have fun and
laugh anymore.
God wants us to be happy and have
fun. Being a Christian is not a chore, but a blessing. I can see Jesus and
His disciple sitting under a tree having fun and laughing. Hey, when Jesus
called Herod and old fox, I wonder, what He was thinking. I am sure He was
joking and laughing with His disciples when He said that statement. Just
think? Now this is just my, Pastor Pat's opinion on the matter, of this
situation.
Jesus saying, "That old fox, who does
he think he is, doesn't He realize I am the Son of God, and I already know
what my assignment here on earth is, and I know what I am to do and go
through. That old fox does not have a clue I know his plans. Ha Ha."
So, the little cow is to maybe put a
smile on a sad face, or put a glow into a dim heart, because as the
scriptures below say:
(Nehemiah 8:10)
"The Joy Of The Lord, Is
Your Strength."
(Proverbs 17:22)
"A Merry Heart Does
Good, Like Medicine, But A Broken Spirit Dries The Bones."
Here is a little devotion I wrote
back in 2006. I repeat it ever so often hoping that you will laugh along
with me. See, when we cry God gathers our tears and when we laugh, He laughs
with us. I can see Him say to His son, Jesus, Look at my child, she is
laughing and having a good time. And people that is a Praise to our
Creator.
"Discombobulated
Well, all I can say is when I finish this devotion, you will think that I need to go to a doctor for sure. I was watching the end of a "Tammy" movie today. If you are my age or older, which we will not go into here, you will remember the movies, Tammy and the Doctor, Tammy and the Millionaire, Tammy and the Professor. Tammy was a young lady raised on a river boat by her grandfather. "Schoolin" as they called it, was not in grammar. But I soon found out she was smarter than I thought. She said a word in the movie today that caught my attention. She said, "Lordy, I am just discombobulated". Why this caught my attention beats me. Maybe I need to get out more. I knew right off that Mr. Webster would not have the definition to this word, but I decided to look it up anyway. I found discontinued, discontent, discomfort, huh, discomfort, and then all of a sudden there is was discombobulated. The Merriam-Webster had the word, meaning upset, confused, or etc. Anyway, a thought came to my mind. I can see myself going to the doctor and as you know, they come in reading your chart, not really listening to you. But they say, "What seems to be your problem today?" Well, Doc. I am discombobulated. He looks at me out of the corner of his eye, as he pulls his palm pilot medical dictionary out of this pocket and proceeds to look up discombobulated. I am guessing that this word is not in his medical palm pilot. He says, " We need to run some test, or maybe see a specialist, or you can go home take two aspirins and call me in two days, if the symptoms do not go away." I am thinking Specialist, then I can use my new word again. So he sends me to to specialist who looks at me funny when I tell him I am discombobulated. He checks me out and says, "I will send a report to your doctor in a few days. Until then go home and take two aspirins, and call your local doctor is symptoms get worse". Well, anyway by now I realized that I could have saved a lot of time and money if I had just stayed home and took two aspirins. More important I should have just prayed. Because God would have known and understood when I told Him I felt discombobulated. As I finished watching the movie, Tammy gives the definition for discombobulated. She says, again, " I am just so discombobulated, just like a short dog in tall grass." I laugh at myself, and said thank you Lord, for letting me catch the little things you send my way to make me laugh. So whatever you are discombobulated about, I hope this put a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.
